Crystallization

Crystallization is a fascinating phenomenon when found in nature. Often, we perceive it as captivating and special – something inherently “good,” like salt, sugar, snowflakes, or quartz. Crystallization is the process through which a solid is created or how our thoughts become solidified and organized into personal opinions and beliefs. This process can occur not just in individuals, but also in larger groups or societies.

In forming our attitudes or what we consider to be our personal, private thoughts, crystallization can many times have negative consequences. Through sustained exposure to precise and calculated thought patterns, elements of those thoughts become entrenched, forming disguised assumptions that guide our lives. These assumptions are reinforced by family members, cultural groups, society, and our nation. We align ourselves with others who share similar beliefs, creating an interconnected system of beliefs across entire communities.

The power of hidden psychological forces causes these underlying assumptions to shape the course of our lives. Whether a belief is true or false becomes irrelevant; what matters is that it’s our belief and supported by others. Individuals fear changing their views because doing so would risk alienation from their group and the anxiety that comes with such isolation.

This social “crystallization” prevents true truth from taking hold. In societies with dominant religions like Christianity in America, religious beliefs must adapt to popular assumptions. Once these widespread agreements form, it becomes nearly impossible for any new insights to pierce the veil of shared understanding. In this context, lies become perceived as truth and truth turns into falsehoods. Individuals often passionately defend these erroneous beliefs, which eventually define their lives and collective identities.

The tendency to solidify ideas and struggle for a sense of unity stems from humanity’s flawed nature. This desire for alignment with worldly values drives the forces of sin and encourages Satan’s influence. The crystallization process is nearing its completion in the world – even in Christendom – proving to be a potent force of evil – challenging any resistance.

While the natural process of crystallization can be fascinating, confining one’s Christian faith within strict denominational boundaries for the sake of conformity is harmful and jeopardizes one’s spiritual journey. Instead of blindly following the doctrines preached by a man, pastor, priest, or anyone else, it is essential to focus on the teachings of Christ. Remember that when Jesus shared his profound wisdom about the Kingdom, many people abandoned him because they only sought to satisfy a worldly appetite; in doing so, they lost their individuality and became rigid like a crystallized substance.
